At the Acadian Companies annual meeting on May 7, Mobile Health Paramedic Donald James was recognized as the Acadian Health 2024 Employee of the Year. He was presented with his award by Acadian Health Executive Scott Domingue.

A resident of Houston, TX, James joined Acadian Ambulance in 2016 and transitioned to Acadian Health in 2023. He has been involved in EMS since 1979. James previously worked for the Houston Fire Department as a Master Firefighter/Paramedic/Preceptor and retired in 1999. He served as a District Chief over EMS in Cypress, TX, from 1990 to 2003.

“Donald balances scheduled patient visits and unscheduled acute care calls, as well as educating his patients on ways to improve their health,” Domingue said. “Consistently going above and beyond, Donald is often solving his patients’ other needs, including procuring necessary items like shoes, a bike, or food.”

“Donald’s acts of kindness mean the world to his patients, who cope with healthcare and social needs that go far beyond what we experience in our lives,” said Acadian Health Operations Director Richard Belle. “Not a month goes by without praise from patients, families, caregivers, and Acadian Health customers.”
